And starting with a narrator is a clear sign that they have dumbed down the show. This is like the Hobbit movies in comparison to the LOTR movies.

Yes the music was mediocre. As for the visuals of the show it has cost more than Game of Thrones but doesn't look as good.
I've just watched the 1st episode. Quit liked as I haven't seen GoT and thought the cadence of the music sounded familiar. The music is written by Ramin Djawadi who wrote HBO'S Westworld.. Keeping it in house.
shareAgreed. Opening narration is a Cliff’s Notes approach to film and video. Even porn eschews voice-over narration. I noticed there were no opening credits nor hallmark title design. The initial music was Muzak. We got the GOT theme with the closing credits—but they added LYRICS—mostly unintelligible—to it!! What kind of moron is making these decisions?
