This show has an ugly Snyderverse look

The muted color and dark lighting is ugly like the Snyderverse. This show would be a lot better if it was colorful like "Smallville."

::SLAP!!::

How DARE you blaspheme Superman & Lois by comparing it to the godawful Snyderverse. The Snyderverse is not worthy to lick the bootstraps of Superman & Lois!

In terms of tone, Superman & Lois and the Snyderverse are as different as night and day. Superman & Lois is charming, sweet, hopeful, emotional, etc. The Snyderverse is dour, flat, nihilistic, cynical, etc.

It reminds me of back in 2017 when we first saw "The Orville" square off against "Star Trek Discovery" and see how much each filled the needs of Star Trek fans. The Orville felt like it was giving you a big bear hug while feeding you warm milk and cookies, while STD felt like it was giving you a punch in the gut while spitting in your face.

If you're going to say purely in terms of VISUALS ALONE, that Superman and Lois looks like the Snyderverse, even in THAT case, I disagree. Both use fairly drab natural colors, but the Snyderverse has a metallic, hard, fake mechanical look to it (even in scenes set OUTDOORS!) and is filled with endless shakey-cam and rapid-fire editing, and tries to ape The Dark Knight. Superman and Lois has more earth tones and natural lighting muting the color. My only issue is that weird 5 o'clock shadow on Superman, but I think that's more to do with the actor's natural scruffy face, and them not having the time or budget to "fix it" in post production and give him a clean shaven look.

It's really jarring when this show goes to a commercial break because every commercial looks better than this show. I hope they fix this bad lighting problem when the show resumes.

The washed out sepia tone look that kills natural color is ugly, but oddly enough popular these days. Among others, they murdered "The Gifted" with this look.

I don't know if audiences like this look or if they just don't notice or don't care. I don't live in a dreary, colorless world so I don't want to see one on tv, unless it's a horror movie.
