Psychedelic Hippy-like Trip of Violent Vengeance
Reminds me a bit of the The Lighthouse when you see DaFoe in character. There is a lot of mysticism talk of visions/premonitions about Viking gods such as Odin, Fenrir (wolf), Valkyrie, sacrificing or upholding one's oath to reach the gates of Valhalla. They've really captured the Viking culture well, especially once they've made landfall in Iceland. Scenery was a sight to behold as it tries to capture all of the great beauty of once was Viking land. I was hoping to see large scale viking battles but they were minor and situated on mostly a farmland and a couple of settlements but captured the fights decently enough to enjoy them along with the bloody gore to go along with it.
Amleth is buff but he hunches a lot. Is it because of the large shoulder muscle mass he's protruding? It's like he built so much muscle that his spine can't retain his upright structure. Plot is very straightforward as you can see with his quest to avenge his father, rescue his mother, and kill Fjölnir (Uncle). In the end, vengeance is more important to what the mother did to cause all of this hellhole.
