And it looks, OK. I don't know, man. Maybe it's my superhero burnout talking but nothing about the trailer made go, "wow, I definitely can't wait to watch that!"
antman was meh, shazam 2 i think i tried and the first 15 mins seemed B-level and horrible.
oh same i have every single of the older ones in 4k. but now who cares. SHang chi was okay but everytime it started becoming a kung fu movie it would jut switch to cgi action and turn into a generic marvel film. its a shame too cause eventually they will bring in x-men. i would have trusted old Marvel to have superb casting and costumes and story and we would finally get a badass leader cyclops like we saw in the animated 90s ones.
now we are likely to get race and sex swapped characters, with cyclops playing second fiddle and them making a "strong black female" leader cause "diversity". im a left winger and even im tired of this shit.
The 2nd and 3rd Ant-Man films were uneven, which was disappointing after how great the first one was. Shazam 2 was as terrible as Shazam 1, and I'll only saw it because my young sons wanted to see it.
Shang-Chi I liked quite a bit. It's far from perfect, but I liked how they merged the O.G. Hong Kong stylizations with the MCU elements.
I hope they don't go that route with the X-Men or Fantastic Four. Despite what some detractors say, Marvel has, for the most part, so far kept politics and messaging out of their films, though it's clear they have had "diversity" in mind when casting newer films. They were at their best when they ignored all of that, and I hope they can return to that level of quality with their upcoming films.
- i just didnt care come antman 3 and i think john majors is a horrible actor and every rendition he does of kang is like local theatre level bad. Shazam 1 i didnt have strong feelings about. i just kept thinking how much better Strong would have been as Lex Luther and how much DC messed up.
I did like SHang chi but as i said everytime i got excited about its up close and personal kung fu elements and fights it would pan out and be a cgi marvel film and ruin them. i still did enjoy it overall and the story.
i dont think they will go back. its not even the politics being forced real or not. they just lost their way to develop interesting well loved deep characters, and tell amazing intertwined stories. Like look what we've got since endgame. the connections between everything is weak and uninteresting. and what the hell is even the direction? fighting kang/kangs? Ive seen Kang lose twice now. i just dont care. we going to get "even badder worser kangs!" yaa i aint interested. its crazy because all they had to do was replicate what phase 1-3 did. just with some old character and some new characters.
we are past phase 4 and half way into phase 5. 10 movies in and what have we gotten? by now in phase 1 and 2 besides some great stand alones, we had already gotten Avengers and avengers age of ultron.
now we got... afew decent ones, but even those are bascially the old guard like spiderman and guardians, then crap like the marvels
I think part of the problem is they've already done it once, and now nothing is going to seem fresh. And there's also the added element of fitting everything new into an ongoing storyline. When they made Iron Man, they had a blank slate, and pretty much the same for the next few films, culminating in the first Avengers film.
It's also worth noting, that when people rank MCU films, the consensus seems to be that Thor 2, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, Hulk, and Avengers 2 are all near the bottom of the list. Personally, I like Iron Man 2, but then, I dislike the first Captain America film, but the point is that after that early run of great films, they hit a rut, but then they rebounded as the Infinity War plot hit its stride.
I hope that's where they are now. They've had mixed success post-Endgame-- 2 excellent Spider-Man films, a fabulous Guardians of the Galaxy film, and the polarizing Eternals (to some it's a masterpiece, to others a dud), and then some good-not-great efforts (Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Dr. Strange 2, The Marvels), and some bottom of the barrel fare (Thor 4, Black Panther 2, Ant-Man 3).
This really feels to me like a turning point for the MCU. If they take the next year to reexamine where they are, I think the next phase can be as good as the best of the previous phases.
i would say the freshness would come from the new characters, new villian and new way things would be interestingly intertwined. that would be fine by 99% of fans. i dont think anyone is bored because "weve seen superheroes before!". i think its jsut been objectively shit and handled by new marvel. cant disagree with the slate. issue is they had their chance to kinda do this with endgame and the wipe.
i have to disagree because these films you mention as at the bottom were spread out between their bangers. im not saying they were great, but im saying there was enough great content that the occasional meh film, was still elevated by how it was connected to others, and was between other great films. so even though iron man 2 and hulk were meh, iron man 1, thor 1 and the avengers it was sandwiched between were loved.
then same iron man 3 and thor 2 were between avengers, winter soldier and guardians.
just looking at the new roster of our supposed heros, i frankly dont care about any of them really. but even your list, you have 3 decent ones, and the rest meh or shit. while in the first phases they had 6 amazing, and afew meh but certainly not total dumpster fires (arguably).
but you may be right i agree next year or two will be the decider if they actually ahve a competent vision and path forward or if they are lost.
putting that joke on ignore was the best thing ive ever done. he tried to blame his autism on why he is an annoying little troll. ive took him off ignore for a hour and it seems hes still following me around this site like a lost puppy. from his posting history which is almost 24/7 all day everyday he lives on this website and has no life.
I find the longer my ignore list gets here, the better the conversations become. Someone needs to start a separate site called MovieArgue for those guys.
I think I have as many left-wing nutcases on my ignore list as I do right-wing nutcases.
I love spirited discussions, and don't mind disagreement, but it's the anger and insults that I can do without. Those are the people that I end up ignoring.
i dont want to fully cut out opposing opinions and create an echo chamber, but same. many of these people are simply toxic and just shout names because they cant engage
yaa i enjoyed Net. I went through a Cageathon. looked up all the cage movies my pirating site had, didnt download the ones id seen and good ones, just stuck to the garbage to mid tier . it was fun and I watched season of the witch, Next, Running with the devil,Stolen and afew others. you should watch Stolen. its just over the top dumb fun.
It looks like.... it's a shame this is a superhero movie. Looks like a totally awesome supernatural thriller in the vein of The Craft and Final Destination that's going to get ruined with a bunch of costumed nonsense.
No person would ever breed with him. hes the most annoying person in his 10 second replies let alone having to know him in reality.. a woman couldnt bear having sex with him even for the minute he would take. dude wanders around this site begging for nuggets of attention and gets ignored 70% of the time. its really tragic
