fact or fiction?

I've only seen one episode of this, it was when the sideshow freak stuck an umbrella down his throat and it opened some, getting caught in his throat and killing him. It felt like a fake story. I don't think any sword swallower would put something down their throat that could open. So is the shoe written by people who come up with crazy ways to die, or are these based on real stories?

This show reminds me of the "Urban Legends" show of which their were only a few episodes. I guess the ratings didn't do well? I thought it was a great show and at least at the end they would say if it has been proven fact or not. This show, plays just like it except they act as if it's all true. The narrator may even be the same one I think. I like Urban Legends better. This seems to be a spin off of that. I know that they at least exaggerate on this show and I'd be willing to bet that they do stories that are actually fictitious Urban Legends.

The series is dramatized and mostly embellished. Have you noticed how almost every episode has hot, sexy women and stupid guys dying for them?

However, if you look at the deaths themselves, some of them been known to occur quite at an alarming number (death by purging, tapeworms, SUNDS), some are very plausible (smoking poison sumac while seeking out a high, being crushed by a trash compactor), and others are given out with notions so absurd you wonder if it actually occurred (choking on a fish, pepper spray in your rectum, etc). I am pretty sure, though, that most, if not all, of the deaths are real and have been documented--they were just presented in a rather outrageous way that tends to lower viewers' credibility.

ImagenAshyun Those people are ACTORS. And the show is trying to downplay the tragedy by tossing in some humor.

You can find a lot of these deaths, just by doing net searches or looking up old newspapers.

I think you described it well.

A guy was in the news only about four or six months back who was killed when he crawled into a box crusher of a retail type store & it was later turned on. He was probably stoned and totally unaware.... maybe even as he was being crushed. Nobody knew until, I guess, he bled outside of the cardboard.

People do die in very odd ways, but the show really puts a spin on their deaths.

Uh, don't forget "hot, sexy women" aren't always intelligent. Holy cow, there are some really dumb but good looking females. Mostly they have a sarcastic personality to try and cover for their stupidity. You can see them cruising around in junker cars by the time they're in their late 30's.. you can still see they once looked good..... but aside from physical looks.... had nothing to get them through life and w/o a sugardaddy..... are just as lost in this world as totally ignorant, dumb guys.

If you read Chuck Shepard's "News of the Weird" there are stories like this all the time so I gotta say it's probably mostly true.

Still, a little documentation would be nice - some of these stories are VERY hard to believe, mostly due to the incredible coincidences required.
