CGI Could Change Movies Forever.

The way Jeff Bridges was portrayed as young at the beginning. If this technology is perfected it could revolutionize filmmaking.

It could devastate film if used incorrectly. I don't want to see 'resurrected' actors at all. Just like photoshop is overused in photography it will surely happen in film as well as the technology improves.

Another brilliant post Steinberg...

This will never happen. Hollywood has too much artistic integrity and self-respe...

Okay, sorry... I couldn't get through that and keep a straight face!

I still don't think we're quite "there" with CG. People were saying the same things about Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow and Final Fantasy: The Spirits within in terms of actors being "replaced" digitally.

While movies like Tron Legacy, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Avatar, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes are getting closer, we're still in that area of the uncanny valley.

It is incredibly expensive and thus will only ever be used in a very limited manner.

The film had a budget of $160 million. Few films can afford it was my point.

Very few films need it, and those that do need a large budget.

The one thing that always gets cheaper over time is computer technology, and at an ever-increasing pace of innovation. So, it's just a matter of time before we have Star Trek with the original series' crew, all young again!
