Yeah. This movie doesn't look good. I just saw the trailer. Plus it's distracting to me that a lot of the characters have British Accents. I have nothing against British Accents but I don't wish to hear them in a movie set in America. Heck, I'd prefer the whole family be African American to having the family be British. Also even the traps just look similar to the stuff we've had in the other movies. Just a gun that shoots pool balls to replace the Paint Cans trap in the first 2 or just having the villain jump from a great height and land on the ground. It all just looks meh. I'm skipping this.
If the movie was filmed in England, I could excuse the accents. I had camp counselors from England and even they would view the movie as complete rubbish.
I sure wish the original two movies got proper sequels and kept going back in the day, at least another 2 or 3 films. Just imagine a proper Home Alone 3 and 4 with the majority of the original cast, John Williams for soundtrack, etc. Would have been a pretty big annual hit.
But alas, some 30 years later and everyone is just too old now. :)
HA3 at one point was going to be a spin-off as it was going to have Macaulay's brother Kieran have Fuller as the lead role. It was scrapped because Kieran felt he wouldn't live up to his brother's success. Not sure how that version of HA3 would've turned out, and it would've come out in 1994 in response to this: HA1=1990, HA2=1992.
HA4 might've been better if the family from HA3 stuck around.
