It seems like in the 3rd season he is more clueless about football/soccer than he was in season 1 or season 2.

I was thinking the same thing. He at least sorta coached in the first two seasons. Now he's just whining all the time about his ex-wife dating their marriage counselor.

He doesn't know about formations?

Felt like the writers didn't know these things.
