Jordan Peele's a one hit wonder

Nope! He is a 3 hit wonder. Nope was great. Us and Get Out were both fantastic.

yet looking at THE NUMBERS, it's doing quite well. people must be enjoying it

Nope is the best thing I've seen from him. Granted, I missed Us, but I like Nope a lot more than I liked Get Out, which I found to be a fairly average film.

I still haven't seen Get Out. I'm really behind on some of my movie viewing. I hear good things about it, though.

Why do you want so badly for this to be the case? It's obvious that you have a problem with this guy. He's a good artist. It's fine if you don't appreciate his work but get off his ass.

I just saw nope - slow intro - then pretty interesting middle until the reveal - and then it just burns down

I've seen plenty of very similar films - which have a legit mystery or suspense - and when the reveal comes, you end up being utterly disappointed. That's a sign of bad writing - you have written down great intro with mystery that keeps the story going, but you never had the ending come to you - so you just go with whatever and it ends up being utter shit, because the initial idea that came to you didn't come with a legit ending, so you had to improvise.
