The same with me. The first time I played it I was intrigued by the story, but the gameplay felt like a chore, not fun. During the 6 years since it was released, I tried it 2 more times, but it still didnt grab my atention. A couple of weeks ago I decided to finally complete the game, and I finnished it a few of hours ago. While I do think that the gameplay is a bit clunky here and there (along with some other minor issues), I enjoyed the expreience quite a lot, even if I spoiled the story (which in my opinion is the best thing about this game) for myself a couple of years ago.I specifically harvested all the little sisters to have a reason to play it again and achieve the good ending.

(okay thats 3, one for each installment;])
Disappointed - Everyone hyped it up so much I was thinking I was about the play the Holy Grail of gaming. It's quite monotonous.
shareYeah it was pretty much the twist that did it for me. After that it went downhill quick.
Nice atmosphere though and advertisement. Now I want to buy that Plasmid! But I'd say Bioshock Infinite is even better.
