and yet again, we see bollywood display its original creativeness.

lol, i never said it was a 'bad' ripoff. Movie was directed good and the two main actors were decent, but the portrayal of Sikhs was bothersome. There was so much hype this film was deviated away from the usual bollywood, but it failed to avoid stereotyping.
I wouldn't call this a complete copy, but certainly heavily influenced and therefore not original.
Hmm, I've seen "Elizabethtown (2005)" as well as "Jab We Met (2007)" and I would not call this a ripoff. Only after some thinking about this verdict I began to see the similarities as a depressed professional makes a journey and meets a girl who helps him out of the depression. But in my view this theme is used in quite different ways and the quality of "Jab We Met (2007)" is better.

I disagree. It is different from Elizabethtown. The characters are also very different.
shareElizebethtown is my FAV movie and I watched JWM just yesterday and my dear friend its in NO WAY even similar to this movie. Okay they're both romantic comedies and are about a man traveling but dude its story is completely different. Stop making such dumb anti-bollywood threads.
shareElizabethtown was okay. Not good, but watchable.
Call this a remake or not a remake, I don't care.. it's still sh*t. First half might have been okay, but the second half sucked ! Ending was stretched like a damn chewing gum; all in all this is a terrible film.
oh Elizabethtown - well done for noticing. i thought it was a similar copy of Sweet November lol...
It was "Way Better" than Elizabethtown. I've shown it to others who love this movie way better.
shareJust watched ElizabethTown after watching Jab We Met a couple of days ago....
Here is my opinion.
-> Jab we Met is a definite inspiration( or rip off) from Elizabethtown. The director has changed some portions of ElizabethTown to make them more bollywoodish....
....> A depressed businessman/employee.
....> Both on the verge of suicide.
....> Both met the girl on their voyage.
....> Both were dumped by their girlfriend.
....> Both had some incident related to their parents (Betrayal of Mother in JWM and death of father in ET).
-> Out of the two movies Jab We Met is definitely much more enjoyable....
-> Acting in Jab We Met is top class and much better then in ElizabethTown.
-> The role of Geet is much more vibrant and likable then Claire.
-> The dialogues of Jab We Met were far superior than that of ElizabethTown.
-> Jab We Met is made much more on a light note as compared to ET which is quite gloomy.
There were two of my favorite scenes in ElizabethTown and thankfully the director of JWM didn't copy them into his version.....
....The speech by Drew's Mother was exceptional....
....The last scene with the map and meeting in the Farmer's market....
In a nutshell will I watch ElizabethTown again MAYBE NEVER AGAIN.....
Will I watch Jab We Met again.... I have already seen it 3 times in last couple of days... and I will definitely like to see it again....
