S2: I think [.....] betrayed [......] once [......] was no longer "his little angel"

No. 001 was genuinely completely taken with Gi-hun for most of the season......until Gi-hun was willing to sacrifice most of team X in order to "end the game".

No. 001's bubble was burst when Gi-hun decided this and he turned full evil again. Anxiously awaiting what no. 001 has in in store for Gi-hun.

Personally, I'm still not disillusioned. I believe Gi-hun was pushed so past the breaking point and his effort to do something against evil like 1%-ers having a battle royale with poor people......it's what I always wanted and didn't get from Hunger Games. And now I have it in epic fashion in Squid Game, even though Gi-hun and his remaining allies seem completely toast.

I agree. I'd been interested to see how it would've played out to the very end with Gi-hun and him being finalists.

I don't think that changed anything. He was basically just cosplaying as a contestant/friend and letting Gi-hun go as far as he could before he had to shut it down. It finally hit the point where Gi-hun was just going to get himself killed so he had to intervene. I guess we'll see what his motivation is in season 3 but my guess is he respected him as a competitor and wants to go against him at the end.

I agree, got the same vibe from that scene. I would say Nr.001 was willing to go along with Seong until he saw Seong's plan was completely hopeless to the point he had to rely on Nr.001 to find a solution to it (by finding a way around) at which point it was clear Seong's plan could never have worked without Nr.001 which means Seong no longer deserves to "win" it.

I was interested in seeing Nr.001 explain his rationale and expecting something like that. Unfortunately Season 2 part 1 ended a bit abruptly lol
