the acting really put me off......

i saw some korean movies from the 2000's who had better acting. i'm not talking about the infamous oldboy that everybody talking about. there are other korean movies with much more "down to earth" acting where people are talking normally.

in squid game everyone talking and acting in an insane exageretted manner. especielly that annoying main character, god his acting is so awful, he constantly overacting, overeacting etc.. to everything. the only ones who dont act like total fools are the ones running the game. all the other characters act so bizzarly and exageretted that its putting me off. do they have to talk like that?

ho yeah that guy with the glasses that gave money to that arab guy. seems like hes the only one with a normal tone of voice in this series

A lot of Korean media is like this, sadly. Everyone's always shouting and whining with their eyeballs popping out of their heads. Some of the better directors are able to calm the actors down and make their performances more realistic. I suppose the situation in Squid Game is extreme, which makes the histrionic acting more acceptable. It is annoying though.

It's typical for Korean Cinema ... with few exceptions.

This is why I can't stand most Korean and Japanese TV shows/movies. It's like if the human actors are trying to imitate anime. It's really hard to take anything seriously because of that.

japanese anime is different because its meant to be like that, but japanese cinema is not like that at all. anime japanese and real japanese are very different and it looks like most japanese film lean more towards real japanese and subtle acting

while in squid game they basically have this very soap-opera trash overacting in every dialouge, not everyone. there are characters who talk normally. but there characters who just overacts repedetly and its intentional and annoying.

i would give them credit that at least in episode 1 of season 2 they calmed down the actors a bit, they talk a little bit more normal. but then there are those who work for the protaganist searching for that guy who still acts like that

It depends on the type of Japanese show or movie, but I had Alice in Borderland in mind when I wrote that, which is totally humans acting like anime character.
