The dialogues of the american characters were odd, their jokes, the way they asked their questions. You could tell that the scriptwriter (korean) was trying to imitate how americans speaks.
Even I, who was not born in the United States, realized that it sounded strange how they spoke.
It sounded like southern accents. I was thinking oil/gas tycoons from Texas.

They also weren't good actors. I guess they just used whatever English-speaking people they had available.
Those were all English teachers living abroad in Korea. LOL!

shareI thought the same, not necessarily teachers but foreigners in South Korea that had day jobs and liked acting for peanuts. It's the only possible explanation for their incredibly wooden performances

Honestly, I've noticed this in Hollywood stuff as well. Just get some people who speak a foreign language. Doesn't matter how bad of an actor they are or how bad their delivery is.
They just have to speak that particular language.
I actually think most of them were not American.
One was Chinese speaking English.
Another was Spanish/Latino speaking English.
And that's why you should always watch the movie with subtitles. Even if you don't understand the language, half of the actors craft is their voice and intonation. You miss all that with dubbing.
shareTo be fair, most the American "roles" in Korean films are really poorly acted. Feels like they just canvass the streets for anglos that look the part, regardless of acting experience or skill. I've seen some really horrid ones.
shareEven if all of the actors weren't American, I think the goal was to satire wealthy Americans. They are meant to look childish and uneducated even though they are clearly wealthy and powerful.
