How is this a comedy?

This was listed as a Comedy, Drama & Romance. Why list as a "Comedy" ? I never laughed once. I didn't even crack a smile. This was a full blown summer teen drama romance featuring 2 of the worst actors to come along in a long time. Jesse Eisenberg (30 Minutes or Less *that movie sucked too* much on the same level as this one) and Kristen Stewart (Twilight, etc) she is one of the most overrated actresses I have ever had the displeasure of watching. I like my comedy movies to be funny, this completely lacked any of that.

Pros:

- Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Ryan Reynolds
- Taking place in an amusement park.
- Soundtrack

Cons:

- Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Ryan Reynolds not being funny.
- Kristen Stewart & Jesse Eisenberg
- Horrible script

It's a romcom with a bit of coming-of-age thrown in. Go watch a Farrelly Bros. movie if you're more into slapstick.

It seemed too much like a straight up drama (not that there is anythign wrong with that) to me to have been filed in the comedy genre. Where specifically was the com in the romcom? I thought I read something about the studio wanted it listed as a comedy since they thought it would bring in audience.

For one, think of the scenes between Bobby and Paulette, the park manager and his doting better half.

I laughed way more than I have laughed with any stupid comedy I have watched. I think it's just a matter of what you consider to be funny.

I laughed a couple of times (punching each other in the crotch), but yeah, this was mostly a sad depressing movie.

A *good* sad, depressing movie, not a comedy.

I thought it was going to be "a wacky adventure where he works at an amusement park".

I thought those were the most unfunny moments that really made the film tonally inconsistent. But to each his own.

After working with the Apatow gang in Superbad, I believe writer/director Greg Mottola's "comedy" ego blew up and he attempted to recreate that magic while trying to have an original voice.

Unfortunately, it's unoriginal and the drama drowns much of the comedy which makes for a very awkward viewing to some people.
