The music was awesome
It was an orgie of cheesy 80s songs.
Poison, Whitesnake, Animotion, Crowded House, The Outfields.
The movie aint that bad but the music is just outstanding. Dont you agree?

I noticed mostly right on groovy stuff- velvet underground , big star , nick Lowe etc - it was so cool that it kind of annoyed me a bit. I'll have to listen out for the cheesy numbers.
shareSame here. I was distracted by how seemingly every song had to exude "cool" -- Velvet Underground, New York Dolls, The Replacements. And I love those bands! But putting them all in one movie...I dunno, seemed like style over substance.
I actually wondered if kids at a party in 1987 would be listening to the New York Dolls' first LP. Seems like a stretch and just another attempt to use the music to exude "cool" at the expense of believability.
Yeah the truth is they would not, nor would they have had a clue who Lou Reed even was. That seemed like some sort of indie/hipster revisionist re-writing of 1987. And Em didn't look or act like 99.999% of girls did in 1987 either. More like 1977 or 1997, if anything.
