I think they had a better option, although I'm not sure

[blue]The options they thought of - different guys had different opinions on them, but Murphy was in charge (thats one thing in the military - highest ranking almost always make bottom line decisions)

U CAN SKIP 1,2,& 3 if u want - THEY ARE THE OPTIONS THEY DISCUSSED

How about (4) Call it a compromised Op & have/make those 3 herd the goats to a hilltop which isn't the closest one (so when whoever counts realizes they aren't back won't eventually look for them in the right place.....& who knows how important those goat guys are....it could be a very long time b4 they even think to gather some folks to look for them)

Anyway - I think that might be a better plan - & they might take those 3 back to the base to see if they had any helpful info. What do u think?

(1) Tie them up & then get up high where their radio would work & go back - problem, they thought those 3 would freeze to death or get eaten by wolves

(2) Shwack - em all - finish the mission - problem, they end up in a US prison for murder - Wahlberg says guys getting long sentences for just bringing back trophy guns

(3) Let them go - go to the same place as in #1 & call it a comprimised Op. - problem, they don't do the op. & the Taliban knows something it didn't, & the Tally might get them if they couldn't get a hold of their base, they had discussed that there could be communications problems with the location

To start, and this has been discussed, this is assuming that the only thing that possibly compromised the SEAL mission was the Goatherders alerting Anti-Coalition Militia. It is a fact that we still do not know for sure if the Goatherders gave up the SEALs. It is very possible that someone else had already alerted the ACM or that they ran into the ACM in transit through the area just like they did the Goatherders.

Any scenario that involves moving with the Goatherders to anywhere is probably the least attractive. Ultimately they will slow them down and make the SEALs less effective in both movement and concealment. And lets say they dont resist and they end up dead anyway either from combat or the elements, then you have contributed to the deaths of innocent Afghans by detaining them and putting them on a forced march.

About the Wahlberg claim in the movie about trophy guns: Its pretty well known this is derived from a IRL situation, albeit very out of context. This of course happened after Red Wings in 2010, so it was back fed into the movie mistakenly just like Rattlesnakes and Taliban. He was referencing Nick Bickle. He tried to smuggle 80 weapons back from Iraq. This wasnt a mere case of trophy guns. Bickle was intent on selling these weapons. So the reference as point of fact comes of lame as trying to say guys are going to jail for nothing. Bickle didnt go to jail for nothing, it was pretty gross in terms of offense, it was in no way overbearing.

Killing them or letting them go are the better options. I would have let them go too. Alot of this mission had to do with bad luck/bad karma. Killing them or leaving them tied up to die would lead to more bad karma. One alternative to thier method of letting them go and bugging out, is to let them go and go closer to the village. If the Goatherders did rat them out, the ACM obviously is going to be looking for them to the opposite way. If they did run into ACM accidentally when bugging out than they wouldnt have had they moved closer.

You're taking a dump and they call GQ do you pinch it off or finish your business?

The ACM were on them fast .The camera focused on the young herder bounding down that ravine like a goat-he obviously is the one who gave them up.The expression on the young mans face while the team discussed what to do,led me to believe he understood every word they spoke. He had such contempt on his face.
Hindsight is 20/20...They were torn to shreds heavily outnumbered. I would've killed the herders..look at all the collateral damage done by releasing them-we don't know for sure that they are responsible for blowing their cover-but I'm convinced they did.
