Exaggerated Piece Of *beep*

This is my problem with military flicks based on true stories or aiming for realism. They wind up being too stupidly epic and jokish. To me at least, I find stuff like this kind of insulting/degrading to people who have experienced the reality of war. My two cents, I thought this movie was dizumb yo

Its a murica movie, what do you expect, it's a *beep*

I agree. The movie does not even come close to portraying the true account of the operation described in the book. It was a typical Hollywood interpretation of the book.

I watch movies for entertainment and to escape the humdrum and tedium of everyday life. If a movie based on actual events is jazzed up or exaggerated above and beyond the facts then so be it. that's all good with me. If someone was to make a documentary about the event then yes I would expect it to be true to the facts but this is a movie, not a documentary.

From what I read the real story was 10 times more brutal and horrific so I don't know how you say it's exaggerated. If anything it was toned down.

Exactly, the real firefight with the Taliban lasted 5 days, not the 3 in the movie.
And Lt Murphy died screaming Luttrell's name over and over. The deaths of the 3 Seals as shown on film, though awful, could not have been nearly as brutal as the real thing.
And Luttrell didn't hobble to the Afghan village, he crawled inch by inch as he was paralyzed from the waist down.
So, I agree: "toned down".
Though I gotta say, for the families, seeing this depiction of their loved ones being killed must have been excruciating. And knowing that reality was much worse.
