Well just how inaccurate can it be? A'Stan is on the border of Pakistan--and Pakistan used to be part of the greater Indian Subcontinent.

Considering how may different DNA groups have traveled thru 'The 'Stan' & how India once was 'right on the border' (remember the Northwest Frontier used to belong be part of 'The Jewel in the Crown'), I ain't exactly sure what a Pashtun should 'look like'.

Now understand I ain't being facetious or trying to say 'all dem wogs look the same to me'...well maybe a little...;-)

Most of these people look closer to Europeans (Gypsies) than they do to Indians. They are physically and culturally very different to the rest of the Subcontinent - even the Brits noted it, despite some of them being subjects of British India.

playbillhound, you're an absolute idiot. You're basing your assumptions on a Google search, congratulations on that. I've been to Afghanistan and can tell you that as a people they are very diverse looking. For instance you will get Pashtun people with dark hair, tan skin and blue eyes. The actors in the movie that were portraying Afghans were actually very believable.

It's like me Googling 'Internet pseudo-intellectual' and expecting a picture of your smug face to come up.

This thread is about this particular boy who was cast, not the rest of the actors. His features don't look like that of the majority of Pashtuns, this has nothing to do with complexion, etc.

The only smug one (and one feeling the need to resort to personal attacks for that matter) here is you.

"Doesn't look like the majority of Pashtuns". Okay, for a less aggressive reply. He was believable as a Pashtun in my opinion. His acting was fine so clearly they chose a kid with acting ability / experience. Bearing in mind I've been to that particular area of the globe.

Basically, I disagree with you, and I don't believe you should take Google image search as gospel. I think you could find other things worthy of critique in this film.

Google Image search helps because it shows you what Afghans look like and take it from me you don't have a f'ing clue as to what you're talking about because I've lived in Afghanistan for 9 years and there's no f'ing you know what my people look like better than I do.

Maybe we should cast Chinese people to play Russians since they border each other. That kid's acting was horrible and the only reason why he got the role was cause his parents are well connected.
