Both are true stories about American soldiers, both are based on books based on the soldiers accounts, yet American Sniper did a lot better in theaters than this movie, anyone wonder why?

The names attached..first and foremost. Also American Sniper seems to be the embodiment of the average patriot(ugh) whereas Lone Survivor is a great survival/war film that is simply just not known as well.

Another is about mission that failed and caused deaths of 19 americans (it was worst loss of American lives in a single incident in Operation Enduring Freedom untill 2011 Chinook shootdown)
Why americans want to watch American Sniper rather than Lone Survivor?

I thought Lone Survivor was a better. The actor were great!
shareAmerican Sniper had more going on and more character development. There were twists and turns and lots of different characters and events. Lone Survivor felt like one drawn out scene of a couple soldiers coming under fire in the woods and getting wounded/killed off.
