Come on. Seems like movies make teenagers seem either like complete angels or the craziest people. While teenagers do drink, do drugs, swear, have sex, etc, this movie makes it way overdone. Anyone else agree? It was quite laughable.

But this film only showed a certain 'type' of teenagers. Not all teenagers party hard, drink, do drugs, sex etc. but the ones shown here did.

While I think some of this was a bit overboard, one would be naive to think that this kind of thing doesn't happen.
I'm in my mid-20's and back when I was in high school we had large parties with a ton of drinks and there were folks who had access to drugs if we wanted them.
Teenagers nowadays are trying to act like they are in college and many start drinking and having sex before they even get to high school.
The way they dress is different, the way they interact socially is different, among many other things. It's just the way the world is becoming.

If the teens weren't characterized so poorly, the film could have been good. The last 22 minutes are very intense, and you see that the girl is at least a good actress. The dialogue she and the others have been given was just crap. So after all, it's just torture porn given legitimacy by trying to teach about a real subject. But it doesn't work if the characters involved all act insane.

shareI thought the imitation of the teenagers was totally unrealistic, but then I thought back to my childhood and mine was pretty similar. I mean I didn't surround myself with losers like them, but some things I could relate to. Like the chatting on the internet with girls and the things we talk about. The bullying and feeling accepted etc. We were all so immature back then, but it's all part of growing up.
No expectations, no disappointments.

Why would you make a post like this it has absolutely no merrit. Just because you grew up in a different crowd does not mean this isnt happening somewhere. How ignorant and naive are you. I remember when I was a kid I was doing some pretty crazy things not this crazy but I was a good kid. So I can easily imagine someone in a tough area growing up worse then me would easily behave in these ways.
shareagreed. the acting didn't help either. i don't remember being 14 and going to a crack house for a party. the direction was way too overdone to make these kids seem out of control. also, the movie was overall pretty disappointing. I kept hearing it was disturbing and whatnot but I guess that only appeals to the audience of parents who fear for their children.

The teenagers in the film seemed way to young to do the things they do, like sex and drug taking so young. All they seemed to talk about is taking drugs, getting laid and parties. I know it can happen at this age but everyone seemed to be doing it. I was surprised to hear this was based on dialogue from real teens.

When I was a teen, drugs and free sex were not commonly available on tap and I doubt they are any more available now. Lets agree this film dealt with an extreme example, not a normal teen (she was sexually abused by various adults!), who had a (unexplained) friendship with a more normal teen.
The horror of the last part of the film was quite unexpected, made it worth watching as a horror film!
I agree about the party, but honestly, I live in an upper middle-class suburb (90% white) and you can get any drug you want fairly easily. I know 14 year olds who've shot heroin. Drugs are very available if you want them.
AND! If you think a sexually abused teenage girl is "not a normal teen" you are also wrong. Girls just don't go around bragging about it.
