Why the previous villains alive?

They were dead in the previous movies, why they can portal to another universe? Am I miss something? After watch the movie I still don't understand.

because, seriously, that's the reason, it was cool see all previous characters coming back

Just for cool? The plot hole is too big, the entire movie build on the premise. What are they think? We would forgot the plots on pervious Spider-Man movies?

The dimensional rift pulled them out of their universe when they were still alive. Simple enough.
