Definitely one of Marvel's worst...
Is it because Sony ruined it? They seem to be the only thing that changed between this one to the last two.
This is right up there with Black Panther and Shang-Chi (I haven't seen Black Widow but I'm sure it's bad, too).
No story, no emotional impact, terrible jokes, insanely fast "joke" pacing. Why do they want to save villains all of a sudden? It makes no sense. Why would you fight at the statue of liberty? So you can destroy that, too? These villains all have terrible tortured lives and are super smart but can't figure out how to cure themselves? But Mr. Child Spiderman can use some stowed away Stark tech to cure literally any super-villain of their condition? This is all so stupid...
It was all just fan service, too, and the spideys' lines were just crap. Every joke fell flat. Practically no one was laughing in my theater. The only reason it has a high score is because the other crappy spider-men show up as well and all trade notes on how terrible their lives are.
MJ is now a sappy bawly child. Gone is her edgy, witty character (except for all of maybe 2 lines in this film). Same with Ned, he's completely neutered. It was all just empty. It felt like a DC film in many ways. All the funny and impactful characters that made the past two Spideys great are sidelined for a bunch of X-Men 3 supervillains that have no backstory and no emotional impact.
Anyway, rant over.
