More of a typical Disney kid show

I can see why it is scored lower. Superheroes all have their reasons to do what they do, they fight crime usually because something tragic either happened to them or their family, because what they are doing takes a lot of time, could be considered illegal, and also put their lives in danger. People don't just do that sort of things without a good reason.

Kamala does not have any of that, also in real world I doubt her family is really going to be happy about it. I think for a typical Asian family having a good education and decent career is usually what parents are more concerned about, being a superhero will get in the way of that.

It definitely has a dated Disney kids show/Nickelodeon vibe, except without the constant push of over-the-top, quirky humour, so it's a lot more bland. And in a lot of similar kids shows where the humor fails, you can at least invest in some of the family dynamics and feel bad or sad when the characters fight or disagree, but there's none of that here because the drama lacks tension, so you don't even end up caring whether her parents want her to be a superhero or a doctor.

Plus, a lot of young superheroes, like Peter Parker, who eventually make their way toward fighting for justice, initially start their journey off for some asinine or selfish reason (he wanted to win a car to impress a girl) and that's fine. But nothing really seems to amount to anything that sets her on that path, she's just a clueless kid being clueless while having powers with a brainy sidekick friend and it's not really all that entertaining.
