It looks like it.

It seems Matrix 4 has gone the woke way. The good guys will be diverse and, let me make a prediction: the evil agents will remain white dudes.

It's not like the original Matrix didn't have checkboxes. All the evil guys were white dudes, while Neo was the only western white guy in the 'good guys' group. But it looks like this one, not even Neo. All good guys will be diversity hires.

A pity. It could have been interesting.

Given the directors you literally cannot expect anything else ...

You are forgetting Morpheus believed Neo was the reincarnation of a previous One; the one who freed them. The Matrix has always hinted at reincarnation. Woke? No. Reincarnation. That goes back to the first movie:

"When the Matrix was first built, there was a man born inside who had the ability to change whatever he wanted, to remake the Matrix as he saw fit. It was he who freed the first of us, taught us the truth. As long as the Matrix exists the human race will never be free. After he died, the Oracle prophesized his return and that his coming would hail the destruction of the Matrix, end the war, bring freedom to our people. That is why there are those of us who have spent our entire lives searching the Matrix looking for him. I did what I did because I believe that search is over."

That's if they are even plying the same character.

While it might make sense in the movies' mythos, it would be really hard to believe that such a change didn't come at the behest of the directors' politics and/or hollywood Woke Stasi.

I enjoyed the original movies as a teenager because they were good sci-fi (basically a stylish cyberpunk "I, Robot" if you ignore the humans as batteries BS), and good action with groundbreaking special effects at the time.

I'd always viewed the depiction of the architect and agents in particular as more "oppressive government bad" and not "whites bad", but it's a little harder to enjoy the movies now that I'm more aware of the messaging the directors really intended.

They also ruined the trilogy by retconning the first film and saying it's a "trans metaphor."

I don't know about all that, but man, they should have tied this into John Wick. It was there for the taking! John Wick was also a program.

That was the original idea of 'Switch' - that way, the name would make sense. However, I don't think it was "men", as she/he wouldn't be MULTIPLE men. She would switch between female and male - male in the real world, female in The Matrix, or vice versa.

This is an interesting idea - NOT because of some 'transsexuality'-insanity, but because of its VERY deep and expanded implications; if you can be 'different' than your physical body in The Matrix, how much can you customize iT? Can you choose a different 'avatar' any and every time you visit The Matrix, so you could be a constantly color-changing, half-transparent bunny elf if you wanted to one time, and a shapeshifter the next time, etc.

Even if you're 'locked' to one avatar (which should never be the case, because why would it?), and they got the 'digital projection of your mental self' line correct (it's stupidly reversed in the movie), it's still interesting to think about, because how would, let's say 'dark-skinned man' know he's a dark-skinned man, if they have never opened their physical eyes, much less looked in a mirror..?

The machines would know, but maybe they wouldn't always program it that way (why would they care what their BATTERIES think anyway, let alone go out of their way to make sure something that absolutely doesn't need to match, would match?), etc. And even they would only know because of the physical side.

This also begs the question, why would they even let 'races' exist? Wouldn't they just choose ONE race for simplicity and efficiency and make everyone that? If gender is not required for reproduction (after all, humans are 'grown', not 'born'), and people don't see their physical bodies, wouldn't they just make ONE gender, ONE body, make everyone 100% identical (or as much as possible), because why would their BATTERIES need to be different anyway?

Of course they should use COWS or something.
