Next Franchise to be Ruined by Reboot?

Is this the next franchise to join the likes of Star Wars and Terminator in that it will make its original conclusions irrelevant and trash its original characters?

Although the latter installments were not nearly as good as the original, it still was interesting writing and a good story. At the end of Revolutions, after a few rewatches over the years to fully understand everything that happened in the past and present, we do get some muddling about Neo returning. However, it still felt pretty conclusive that this time around something different had happened as a result of Neo's sacrifice and a deal for peace was struck. Apparently that peace only lasts 20 years.

And somehow Trinity is alive? I guess I understand Neo returning since he is the One and systematic, but Trinity doesn't really make sense. Anyway, after what happened with the two above franchises, I am a bit pessimistic to see what happens here. On the other hand, the Wachowski's have pretty much done nothing since the Matrix, so maybe they have been writing for the last couple couple of decades and put together a masterpiece.
