So, I just watched the 2 movies again and think Quarantine's easily the better of the two.

The production value, actors & acting, the script, the visuals and the characters are all better. Rec is good, but not as good as this one.

The sequel sucked tho :/

No.

[Rec] is a good horror movie. Not excellent, but quite good actually. Quarantine is... well, meh.

They're both roughly equal. Very similar films.

People who claim Quarantine is way worse than [Rec] are having a giggle.

To be fair, the writer/director of the Quarantine did a good job with other series/films.
