This is a great horror.

Seeing both REC and Quarantine, Quarantine definitely succeeded on a new level with the terrifying atmosphere. Watching the complete nervous break down of Jennifer Carpenters 'Angela Videl' character was horrifying in itself. Something you should see more in horror films, a main character who just cannot get a grasp of the situation they are in. Some complain about her performance, even some call it "annoying...".. and I think they are a little too conditioned by the generic 'calm and collected' protagonist of horror movies who just takes charge of any situation they are in, including axe-murderers and flesh eating zombies. Sad that people don't appreciate this.

As much as I also enjoy REC for what it is, undeniably it is very poorly produced, the acting is below average and the characters were lifeless cut outs.. Some people say that that makes it more 'realistic' that it is generally sloppy. Obviously, that is a bunch of crap. Anyone who cares for the art and talent involved in making a movie, should give credit where credit is due. Quarantine overall handled the material much better.

If people weren't so blinded by the fact that this is a remake, they would see this is a very, very high quality horror film. Fans of REC should be welcoming Quarantine with open arms, all this movie can do is lead more people to seeking out REC that never would have been introduced to it otherwise. It's almost like an annoying bandwagon now, to trash remakes and sequels. I'm not sure why people take things like this so seriously - at the end of the day it is entertainment for you if you want it to be. Unfortunately, many people don't allow this due to some misguided sense of self-worth and bizarre principles of theirs. To defend the honor of the original... Well, obviously the makers of 'REC' allowed 'Quarantine' to happen. Nobody loses here except for you guys who are getting your panties in a twist over nothing.

Anyway, I highly recommend anyone going out and grabbing this one - it's definitely a keeper. Very few horror films utilize the brilliance of a dark room and headphones quite like this one does.
