So REC is the original and this is the remake?
I guess if you are fresh out of ideas its ok, but writers should come up with original info IMO.

sharei have watch (both Rec and Quarantine)and they dont have differences!!,except the characters and the language!!,,,but quarantine is more better!!!!
shareI disagree with Quarantine being better. They are almost EXACTLY the same, shot for shot, that they almost equal each other out. The only thing I liked better about Rec was the origin of the virus differed, and it almost made the movie feel like the REAL third Demoni movie.
sharebut quarantine has a better actresses and actors,,,so why rec?,,i dont even know there namnes and they're acting?,they are piece of *beep* more better!,,
shareAlthough I liked Quarantine a bit more, I was more impressed with the acting in REC and most of the people had never done professional acting before.
Don't eva let nobody tell you you ain't strong enough
Really? Just because you don't know the actors' names, they're suddenly worse? The acting in the original was somewhat better, but Rec DEFINITELY explained the the origin of the virus ALOT better. Quarantine didn't really do that at all. You see some newspaper articles, rat cages, and that's pretty much it. Rec actually explains it, which makes Rec the better one (and it's 'better', not 'more better')

Leaving things open for me is a much better way of ending a movie.

Well yes it does make it pointless.
Take the Resident Evil series that you've named yourself after. Now take out the Umbrella Corporation and replace it with 'rabies gone bad' or something. What are you left with? A bunch of zombies running around for no real reason, rather than it being a commentary on corporate greed and the lengths people will go to in the development of weapons and their use. Yeah - a parable for the US and allies deployment of nuclear weapons against Japan in WW2 becomes a pg13 Cannibal Ferox
Quarantine cuts the balls off the story of REC so its typically dilute, easy to stomach, inoffensive American drivel.

Sorry but you really don't get it. Read this news story:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8502665.stm
See that - that's real, it seems like fiction, but it's real and it's just down the road from my house.
Now, what country is REC from?
Spain.
What is the predominant religion in Spain?
Catholisism.
What is the point of the ending of REC?
To point out that the vatican sanctions experiments on people that are supposedly possessed and that they have shown that possession is not only NOT a supernatural phenomena, but is something that is beyond the control of them and therefore god. It debunks the thousands of years of control the church has exercised over mankind - particularly in Spain. It's pointing at the vatican and saying "You are wrong", in a country where the majority worships an octogenarian virgin wearing a silk skirt.
That is what the film is about, and without it it's pointless - utterly utterly pointless.
Imagine a remake of Planet of the Apes where Charlton Heston rides off into the sunset - no statue of liberty, or Unusual Suspects with a fade to black as Kevin Spacey limps down the road, Bruce Willis is really boring and everyones ignoring him except that annoying kid, Darth Vader tells Luke - "Yeah I killed you father and made him squeal like a pig".
Pointless.
Same with quarantine.
