The rational thing to do with the survivors

If I was the gov't I would've had 20 small cages outside, and opened the front door. Then... I would've surrounded the entrance with snipers, machine guns, the works... and told every single individual to get in ONE CAGE. And then once every one was in one cage, wait for them to transform... the ones that transform (due to being affected) kill them. The ones that don't, let them free.

Because this is really discrete right?

reply

because they had not determined that the causative agent was, nor if it could be transmitted in other methods outside of typical rabies standards, it would be a great idea to expose people in the outside world to some homicidal insanity sickness

@ OP, I was thinking the same thing, except instead of simply a 'cage', i was thinking of some sort of airtight enclosure on top of that.

"either you die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villian"

Yes, I thought that too, that there MUST have been some better way to deal with the situation than closing the building off and letting them all die in there. But I question how much the CDC really knew about the virus. Maybe they thought it might be highly contagious, even airborn and that it might take a while for people to transform.

Unfortunately I think this was realistic, because the truth is in most cases autorities would rather sacrifice a few people to fully and quietly eradicate a threat than deal with it by putting more people at risk AND letting the public know what is going on.

it reminded me of "right at your door"http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458367/board/nest/156416359?p=1:

"look up waco texas 1993,ruby ridge, louisiana 2005,see if the government gets away with the way they fix "problems".the government kills people, they have black sites where they "disappear" problems.its called reality. "

The logical thing to do was just to stay in your own damn apartment.. Evidently the zombies had a problem opening up doors -_- ..

funny, I keep on thinking that same thing every time I see a zombie movie and I always have that Idea when I'm imagining what my post-apocalyptic zombie-defeating fortress would be like I always determine that anyone who's been outside the sanctum needs to be put in individual quarantine for however long the incubation-time is times 2, (just to be sure, and if it's only an hour then they should be left there a full day) after they get back in case they've been bitten and won't tell the rest of us.

People in horror-movies are so frickin stupid I always hope there's an utopia elsewhere off-screen where all the smart people took shelter and we're just following the bottom-feeders because such stupidity really grinds my gears.

I don't know how they'd breathe in an airtight container, but otherwise that would make the most sense.

And perhaps give walkie-talkies to the radiation men... so they could at least inform the authorities about the rabies?
