Leave it to the Americans... (spoiler-ish)

...to show the FINAL scene of the movie in both the trailer and on the poster/DVD-cover.
I know this isn't the first movie where it's done, but in almost every horror movie trailer from the last 5-10 years, the ending shot is shown.
WHY do they do that??

(Not that I care with this movie in particular, haven't seen it, never will, I love [rec] and it's more than adequate for me...plus, I hadn't seen the ending beforehand.)

...just sayin'...

I thought you were going to say "...to remake a foreign film just so they can watch it without having to read at the same time"

"I told you it's not fat, it's power!"

reply

Hahahaha I thought the same!

reply

not only that, they ruined the ending. Remember al that creepy stuff in the spanish version about demonic possessions and religious rituals and that apartment filled with weird paraphernalia? All gone in the remake.
Apparently the "infection" was just a mutated form of rabies and the creepy apartment is just filled with caged rats.

reply

The funny thing is, I'm not even a believer, and I find the demon possession angle far more frightening than some rabies-mutation.

I'm glad, because I don't get why being an atheist makes possession not frightening.

I'm no Christian, but I've still been terrified by some scenes in these possession films, or even by that famous case of the German girl Annelise.

I think the other way.
The rabies infection because it's more plausible or possible
makes it more creepier or scarier.
I don't believe in demons so they don't scare me at all.
Horrors that is based on some fact or reality makes it more
frightening than just a mere superstition.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

I have to agree here with you.
Which is why I personally think that this American version is an improvement over "Rec".
Because it made the horror seem more plausible or believable by explaining it as being due to some viral infection or disease, as opposed to some superantural source like a demonic possession.
