Can we all agree that as far as Rabie infected zombies go that Quarantine out does World War Z by a mile as far as the horror, gore and story go. This movie was much more engaging, intense, and claustrophobic. It was a real zombie film. There wasn't any overuse of cgi or 3D special effects. Most of the film was done practically. Quarantine should have a higher rating than World War Z.
I agree 100%, and I really wanted to like WWZ.
My girlfriend is out of town so I waited until 10pm, turned off every light in the house, pulled the couch too close to the big TV, and watched this with the sound system turned up way too loud. Also left the blinds on the big windows open for that creepy "something could be watching me" feeling.
Success! The movie ended 10 minutes ago and my heart-rate is still a bit elevated.
I tried the same with WWZ and gave up after a few minutes, turned down the volume and watched the CGI while doing other stuff. By the time the refugees were singing through the PA system I was rooting for the zombies...
World war z was never meant to be a horror film like quarantine is. Quarantine is meant to be atmospheric, claustrophobic and scary. World war z gives you a very large scale visual of an epidemic on many levels and in many different locations. I found quarantine to be more scary and tense, and world war z more interesting, varied and insightful. I enjoyed them both the same.
