A truly horrible movie.....

Horrible in the best way possible!
so i've been watching a string of horror movies lately, this was at the end of the list and i have to say i was surprised how good i found it in regards to how tense it was and how i actually felt for some of the characters. the other films i had been watching had been ok, most had not been scary (and im not saying that as a bad thing, i prefer horror films that have interesting stories as opposed to a sucession of jump scares and super gory imagery but boring stories) and this one was good, there were a few times i was hiding behind my hands.

i had heard of rec and have been meaning to see that, however i didnt realise this film is a remake of it until coming here. i will be seeing rec and wont lie a bit worried given this film made me a little tense im worried what rec will do (maybe it wont be so bad as being on here i have stumbled on spoilers so i kinda know whats going to happen)

before anyone bites my head off i am not saying this movie is perfect, and looking over what appears to be the main sticking point why people dislike this film compared to rec i will say this-for me the horror of this story was how the inhabitants were treated by the CDC as opposed to the actual rabies zombie thing. it managed to create a truly horrible atmosphere which i thought was really interesting. it was more the whole enviroment which again puts it above the other films i saw recently. the ringu remake was pretty bad and OTT imo, it wasnt scary at all. the fact this managed to be quite tense is good for a remake. of course its not fait to say anyore until i see rec so may come back after to say if my view has changed, but i do like this movie more than i thought i would.
