My problem with this movie

Although this one is actually not a bad movie, it's not even close to the original.

My main problem with Quarantine is:

Casting

Having prominent and well-known actors, some known mostly from comedy, doesn't work for movies with a scary "found footage" setting. It's like having Turk from Scrubs playing the police officer, it just wouldn't work. They even put Alan Harpers ex wife in the movie. WTF! Why not cast little Jake as Jennifer (the little girl) while you're at it. It's not convincing. When I look at Jennifer Carpenter all I can see (other than Debra from Dexter) is Manuela Valesco in [Rec], then I compare the two. Don't really like it. But hey, at least they didn't cast Nicole Kidman and Brad Pitt.

Acting

The acting in the Spanish version was flawless. So convincing in every way. I could feel them almost as if I was there myself. The acting in Quarantine is not bad at all, but nothing compared to the original.

Camera work

It's not authentic enough. While watching the original, you only need 2 seconds to know its actually the perspective of the journalist team, or any "amateur" really. It's scary damnit. In Quarantine, it looks like it could be a regular movie. I don't know, it just looks too professional. In the beginning of the movie, right before they enter the womans apartment, I almost couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a "found footage" kind of movie. At times it looked like they just shook the camera a little.
