Actually better than Rec.

I picked up Quarantine on dvd as an impulse purchase as I enjoyed Carpenters performance in Emily Rose... loved it! It had the adrenaline pumping and had plenty of scares.

Bought Rec on Blu Ray out of curiosity and whilst I enjoyed it and respected that it was the original I really thought that Quarantine was a little more stylish and had the better performances on a whole. Also, the ending was much scarier.

I disagree. REC was frigthening from beginning to end. This remake made me laugh 2 times. It has less than half the tension REC has.

I agree with the o.p.. Quarantine was much better acting, more realistic reactions and Jennifer Carpenter was much better.

I agree this is the better film. Reason for me was the acting in REC wasn't convincing. It wasn't because i had to use subtitles either, as i have watched many foreign films before with convincing acting even though i had to use subtitles as i can only understand English.

I will add that i did watch this first, and i also will credit REC for the whole idea, for which we wouldn't have gotten this film.

Generally which ever version you see first will feel as the superior. Since when u watch the other version u already know the tricks that are coming and the ending, so there is not much suspension or surprises left. Unless the movies are vastly different...

lol God No. The original was much better. That's what everbody says in all the other threads on this board. It's not even close.

But like the guy before me said. If you already know everthing that will happen, the second movie you watch will look stale in comparison to the first one.

I'm going to stay away from these american copies after this one. They are not even trying to change not even the smallest thing. This movie was only done so lazy americans don't have to read subtitles or whine about the words not matching the mouths of the actos when it's dubbed.

And it was a success!! Pathetic, then you all complain about Hollywood not even trying to come up with new ideas. All they have to do is copy foreign movies or old movies that were done with a different style and pacing than today's movies, and they have another sucess!!
