A lot of actors wanting to go on a vacation and building a story around it. Story stunk but the island was pretty.
I was totally thinking the same thing: Vaughn and Favreau wrote this stinker and as soon as they got to the island all I kept thinking was, they wrote it so they could go on a paid vacation. For that alone I say, well done!
Beautiful scenery - like a screensaver! lol
Actors don't make this kind of decisions. It's the producers, directors and other men with the moneybags.
Anyway, that was my thought before I bought this movie, it was my thought while watching this movie, and it's my thought after having seen the movie.
It's CLEARLY some kind of tax avoidance scam á la Sandler (if that was his name), "let's go to tropics and make a movie out of it?" drunken bar idea, or something along those lines. There's no two ways about it - _EVERYTHING_ about this movie screams 'screw the plot, let's just make a movie so we can sunbathe under palm trees!'.
