Not as bad as its made out to be

When Couples Retreat came out a few years back I didnt go to see it because the reviews I read were so bad. And it was pretty much universal panning. But I came across it the other night on TV and decided to give it a go. I have to say I really enjoyed it. Vince Vaughan is always great and the scene with the lemon sharks was hilarious. The scenery is absolutley beautiful, you could watch this with the sound turned down it looks that good. Its nothing earth shattering in terms of life lessons and all that but theres a great sense of fun about the whole thing. I suppose if I'd gone to see this in the cinema and paid money for a ticket I'd have been a bit disappointed but if its on The box then my advice would be to give it a go.
Filmed on location at the St Regis resort in Bora bora, which by all accounts is heaven on earth. If there job was to pimp French Polynesia then it worked on me. Im off to that very resort next month!

totally agree, have seen it a few times and always cracking up. The lemon shark scene and afterwards when he's trying to convince everyone that he experienced something horrific are definitely epic haha. It was just him against the entire table.

the location and the women are gorgeous, otherwise, it's full of advertisements, the acting is very bad, Vince Vaughn, the writer and lead role, had to make sure that every leading man is uglier than he is, which is pretty ugly. i tried twice to finish this movie, the second time i almost did it, but no, even the ladies couldn't keep me.

It truly is that bad, how low are your standards that you could actually find merit with any aspect of this wooden mindless pile of garbage.

I enjoyed it. The yoga had me crying, and there were some pretty good scenes that really shared some wisdom. It was a little odd with the complete idiocracy of some scenes, with some serious topics as well. I enjoyed it though.
