Ridiculous Couples + Ending

This was a bit of a bumpy ride, but I thought some of the middle scenes (the yoga, undressing, john favreau having a hand shandy) were mildly funny, then it went SO weird at the end.

So apart from vince vaughn & malin (who wouldn't look at him twice in real life) being the only normalish couple, we have;

- John Favreau & Kristen Davis (who again wouldn't look twice) both admitting to having cheated on each other multiple times, on a dancefloor, then falling into each other's arms, riiiight.. don't wanna get an std test first there?

- Jason Bateman & Kirsten Bell, she tells him it's over, only for him to come out with some weedy pathetic apology and then all is forgiven.. -I'd be slightly concerned if my wife of several years suddenly told me it was "over". It's not exactly a decision taken lightly or going to be over an issue that will just suddenly vanish.

- Black Guy & Wife, tells him she needed to go slut around to realise what she's missing and come home, well doesn't that just make you want to leap into her arms! Aw and they even get a wooden bee to remind them of her "wandering antics" teehee.. AS IF, pathetic!

The whole Eden-East bit wasn't even needed tbh, it would have been more believable if they'd all swapped partners or something!

no, john and kristin said they had tons of opportunities to cheat and they "could have cheated" but i don't think they ever actually did.

No, they did. They both thought they were the only one cheating, and now that they're honest with each other, they can explore their relationship in some other way. They both are flirting bastards that love going after other, younger people. If they were in an open relationship, they could do that. It's all about communication. They haven't been honest with each other in years.

I thought the resolution was very contrived and corny, and I roll my eyes every time I hear Jean Reno go on about what their wooden animals represent. This is a film that tries too hard to be funny and would have worked better if they went with realism over cheap gags.

I agree. The resolution was poorly written. They didn't even mention that upon completion of the corny course that each couple would get an "animal prize". Even that was pretty absurd.

This movie would've worked better if it was more "down to earth" although there were some great one-liners. And the yoga scene has me in stitches every time I view it.

My only other observation is that Vince Vaughn is not a lead character. He is a funny supporting character if used right. Jason Bateman would be next up for lead but that is still debatable.

The Eden East thing was one of the best things in it. It represents the idea that married people have that somehow somewhere single people are having more fun than they are. The movie reveals it's illusory.
