Skyfall vs Casino Royale

Which do you think is better? For me it's to close to call.

Casino Royale. The best Craig Bond of them all.

Skyfall

"Skyfall".

Neither is a great film, but "Skyfall" has some really great scenes, enough to beat some weak competition from "CR".

CR. I LOATH Skyfall. Only Bond film I don't own.

I like them both about equally well, but I prefer Casino Royale, because it is amazingly faithful to Fleming’s novel, all of which I have read. The only major deviation from the book is the type of card game in the tournament. In the novel, it was Chemin de Fer, similar to 21. The movie has Texas Hold ‘Em. I ask you, which one sounds more smooth and sophisticated, meaning more like Bond himself: Texas Hold ‘Em, or Chemin de Fer?

This. Skyfall was terrible and largely benefited from Bond fan withdrawal as it was essentially a second reboot within the Craig era.

F ckin loved Skyfall.

You must be young man. Skyfall is one of the best Bond films ever made.

There's only one James Bond film I don't own, and its name is Skyfall.

reply

Casino Royale by a hair, but I think Skyfall feels more like a traditional Bond film.

Well, slightly. Skyfall seemed to have a few more of the Bond tropes the series was known for, such as the proper gunbarrel sequence (even though it was at the end), theme song sharing the same title as the movie, and one liners. It also had Q, Moneypenny, a colorful villain with an elaborate backstory/motivation, etc. All of those things were missing from Casino Royale, despite that being the superior film overall.
