Do you hate America?
Carrey's answer was a clear "no" even though he was committed to "yes".

and that was a question not like a dare or an oppotunity or whatever. thats like asking him, 'are you gay?' and he has to say yes which is not what the film was about....
shareThat whole scene was stupid. No way that would happen in real life where the FBI thinks you're a terrorist. The only bad part of the whole movie IMO.

that actually happened to me and a friend, I'm from chile and was going for holiday work and vacations to utah, the agency here in chile mistook and sent us to las vegas, I had to buy a one way ticket to salt lake and before boarding some security guys took us to a room where our luggage was analyzed and they also strip-searched us. They told us this was procedure because of the last moment one way ticket.
so it wasn't silly at all, I felt identified with that scene.
I think the airport scene was totally realistic. Its not like they took him to jail they questioned him a little bit. Besides who does go to Lincoln Nebraska, take flying lessons and learn Korean for no apparent reason? Terrorists that's who, lol.
shareThat scene was really stupid.
That was the only scene that I hated in the movie.
It made the FBI,the Department of Homeland Security and the Airport authorities look stupid considering that they were completely off.
That wasn't comedy.
That was an INSULT OF THE VIEWER'S INTELLIGENCE.

The whole scene was just one giant middle finger to department of homeland security courtesy of Hollywood.
shareIt was an ironic scene at first. To clarify he only has to say yes to new opportunities as explained in the scene.
shareWell, keep in mind that scenes which are middle fingers to other government ahencies which kinda deserve it -- IRS, the draft board, etc. -- are passe these days.
shareWhat the hell is there supposed to be in Lincoln, Nebraska that al-Queda or "Dear Leader" would think is worth blowin' up?
shareSimular with my friend we were at the airport going to japan and random inspection came and did my friend and not me, the next air port (we had to take 2 planes to get to japan) random inspection came and did my friend again and not me
shareHe was saying yes to opportunities, being invited to do something or participate in something......it was never for true/false situations. That was a true/false QUESTION about his feelings/attitudes, he wasn't being asked to do something (given an opportunity to do something in life). He always said yes when people asked him to DO THINGS.
You're acting as if he has a red car and if someone asks him if he has a white car he's supposed to lie and say yes.
You missed the details on how this yes thing worked.
