As a Canadian and part of a very multicultural society, Jim Carrey should be ashamed of himself for going along with a ridiculous portrayal of Iranian women in this film. Persian mail-order brides? The racism in this movie is ridiculous.

sharePretty sure it was called Persian Bride Finder (rather than mail oreder brides), but wasn't the point of it that he was saying yes to all his spam e-mail? I would guess that the reason that they chose Persian over say Russain brides, Thai brides (etc..) was that it worked well with the whole 'suspected terrorist' incident. If it had been the 80's it could well have been a Russian bride.
IMO it was better than having a scene with Jim Carry using the penis enlarger....
I think it's basically a case of lighten up! If it's about skin colour, people go insane. But if there had been an Irish character who got drunk and was stupid, you'd find it funny. If they were mocking Christianity, nobody would care. But dare to have a 'Persian Wife Finder' and the film is all of a sudden racist.

You are whack! Our very close friends are Persian and we watched this movie at their house after a fine Persian dinner. They loved it too! The idea of catalog mail order brides has been in many other movies for 70+ years.
Our neighbor is Persian, she's extremely modern and so is her sister. Hot hot hot! But they even make fun of the very conservative Persian women. If the prospective bride weren't from Iran, it would have been (fill in the blank).
I've worked in 111 (yes, we keep track) countries. I've enjoyed many jokes about loud Americans, I certainly don't bristle when our culture is used for a joke. Why do you? Sounds like you are a touch too sensitive.
