ANyone else find it bizarre to see Zooey playing opposite Jim? I mean he's like 25 years older than her! She should have been dating Jim Carrey's young friend. Why did they cast him as if he was 30? Totally bizarre.

I don't know to me it wasn't that big of a deal, true he is quite a bit older then her but the movie was about taking chances and that's just another chance he took in my opinion

Agree. For me, the real problem isn't that I don't like seeing an older man with a younger woman. It's just that its taking away a potential role for an older actress. We rarely see older actresses in big mainstream movies. Need more of it.

How old is Jim? 40? She is what 30? She was with Will Ferrel in Elf, so to me it didn't seem so strange. I didn't even think about their ages... except when Jim's wrinkles were really noticeable.

I didnt really see it... Jim doesnt look that old, and Zooey could pass for early 30's, and Jim could pass for mid to late 30's. I thought of them both being within each others age range and not their actually real life range... but their movie persona ranges...
Plus, I am 25, and no doubt... I would definitely be all about Jim Carrey if he wanted me. Definitely wouldnt bother me... sexy, and funny.

I noticed it, not because Zooey looks particularly young, but because Jim is starting to show his age and the character he played is a good decade younger than he is.
I think it is a bit ironic that Cameron Diaz, who was barely legal when she starred with him on the mask as his love interest is now apparently too old to be his love interest in his new film.
It is getting stupid now because when 40 odd year old men are chasing mid 20 women, it leave women of the Cameron age group (mid to late 30's) the co star of men old enough to be their fathers (*cough* As good as it gets *cough*).
Even if I don't have a problem in general with big age gaps(personally I quite like some older men myself) to pretend they don't exist, come ON!!! It was the elephant in the corner in this movie, is just not right and has Hollywood sexism in its core.

I agree. Why not let people of the same age group be together. Sure, if it had been a movie about "love having no boundries"....etc etc, then ofcourse, but this looked and felt weird. It works for some, but its less than many.
hey, I have female friends who tell me that older men are great...more experience, better jobs,...maybe a bit of a father figure to some, but Jim Carrey looks 50 and acts 25. He needs to gain a few pounds and fill in those wrinkles.

The movie had nothing to do with age, and sure they casted a younger actress, but she had to be carefree and young (seemingly carefree i mean)and the point was that Carl was almost lifeless, which would require an older face, but he pulled off his YESman self well also. The age difference wasn't mentioned because it would have added absolutely nothing to the movie, sure she was younger and she taught him new things. I don't see sexism, and i happen to be for everyone staying within there age range but whatever, the movie was great.
