I actually liked it better than the original! Yeah call me crazy! Don't get me wrong the original is a classic, and some things are done better in it. Such as the music and Kevin Bacon being a better male lead than Kenny Wormwald, but Kenny still did a good job and the music was still good. But overall, I think the remake does more things better. Such as Dennis Quad as opposed to John Lithgow. Don't get me wrong I love Lithgow but it's kind of hard to take him seriously, Quad can be taken seriously and even when his character is being a dick you can tell the pain and struggle he's going through after loosing his son. and overall that gives the remake a better story than the original which is the most important factor.

Ooooh, Dennis Quaid is one of the things I hated the most about this. Well, besides some of the music and dancing, but that's a preference thing.

I think Quaids character is way underutilized. With Lithgow, you hated and felt so sad for him all at the same time. He was frustrating and crazy. Shaw in this version isn't even in it enough for me to care one bit about.

Well said. I preferred Lithgow too. He was much better as a preacher

Well I'm sorry but for me every time I hear Lithgow's voice I keep thinking 3rd Rock from the Sun and it's really distracting.
