Who else loved the Uncle?

One thing i hate about the originals film is the character of the Uncle. he acts like an *beep* to Ren, always happy to blame him for everything and is such a dick, that i was surprised Ren's mother bothered to live with him.

but the Uncle Wes in the remake (played brillently by actor Ray McKinnon) was awesome. guilty over his sisters death, full of admitration for Ren and what he went through and also pissed off about the law banning music. the scene where he spoke up for Ren in the court house and the brillent moment when he said to the reverend (to his face) that Ren was a good kid and, maybe Ariel wasn't good enough for Ren was brillent and worth the ticket price alone. at them moment the reverend realised that he's wasn't as respected as he thought he was...and it was all his own fault

what does anyone else think

One of the few things I liked about this terrible remake was the uncle. He was awesome. So much better than the original, where the guy was a jerk. I think they re-did his character like that because they had the mom dying, and in the original, she really stood up for her son.

I agree! I really loved his uncle in this one! He was so funny and he really cared about Ren and was always sticking up for him.
