bulldozer? bus-racing? RAGE-DANCING? LOL. Was the original like this?

I didn't see the original.

1. Right before the bus-racing scene, what was the point of the abusive boyfriend getting into the bulldozer for a grand total of like 10 seconds to drive it for a grand total of 15 feet?

2. Was there bus-racing in the original or something? Is this a Southern thing?

3. Rage-dancing: I imagine this was probably lifted from the original, but I couldn't stop laughing. Seriously, wtf?

I'll excuse the unbelievable amount of mass-group synchronized choreography since it WAS a dance movie, but this was one of the worst movies of 2011. How close to the original was this abortion?

First off the original was not as ridiculous.
1. That was a stupid way of them to reference the original scene before completely changing it.
2. In the 1984 version, they played chicken with tractors, they didn't race buses. I though that was stupid.
3. It was sort-of a copy of the original scene, but more ridiculous. In the original, he was throwing in a whole bunch of gymnastic stunts as well, and wasn't "krumping", I think that's what it's called.
I personally recommend the original, because it had better acting, wasn't as forced. They tried to modernize it with all the new dance moves and stuff, but failed.

1) When I first saw the movie I believed it was a nod to the original as instead of buses they did "chicken" with tractors and according to the commentary by Craig Brewer thats exactly what it was

2) Again buses no "chicken" with tractors yes. I don't know if the "bus racing" is a Southern thing again according to the commentary by Craig its something he sees when he is at home in Memphis and thats where he got the idea-buses do a figure eight and try to ram into each other

3) God this was so stupid to me in the remake with him yelling and acting like Tarzan or something. In the original its similar but there's no yelling or acting like a madman yes he hits his steering wheel a couple of times and he throws his beer bottle but he never yells or shouts its much more subtle and effective at least to me

All in all the movie stayed fairly close to the original, more than most remakes I've seen anyways

The dancing in the warehouse was way better in the original too. Especially when he goes through that area where it makes him look like he's wearing prison stripes.
