To me the most significant change was leaving out the book-burning. That scene was critical because it showed what censorship of music and dancing could lead to. I loved the fact that Rev. Shaw put a stop to it. Why on earth did the filmmakers choose to skip it?

So happy that other people notice that, too. It was the pivotal scene in my opinion, and they left it out of the remake AND the musical
