Music?

So, were they not able to get the rights to the original music or did they intentionally use crappy remakes? The new version of "Holding Out For A Hero" almost made my ears bleed and I liked the original. In fairness, I will say I didn't dislike Blake Shelton's version of "Footloose", but it wasn't Kenny Loggins.

The licensing wasn't an issue since in order to do a cover for release it needs to be granted. The whole point of the covers was in that it is the same film but made for a newer generation. In fact it was the reverse for me. I thought "Holding Out For A Hero" was a good cover, but I can't stand Shelton's version of "Footloose".

I wish they would've included "I'm Free" by Kenny Loggins at the end. That was a great song!

licensing a song in order to release a cover version is an entirely separate matter from licensing a specific sound recording of a song. for starters, the money involved is different, and usually different people and/or companies are involved, because often times the owner(s) of the publishing rights to a song are not the same as the owner(s) of the original sound recording

I don't really care to much if they used the same music, but if you're going to use different music make it good.

There were a couple of really crappy songs that not only stunk it up, but ruined my chance to enjoy it.
