He was yeah I believe as Ren's deadbeat dad but he declined

I doubt that. Bacon and his wife, Kyra Segwick, lost a very large chunk of their money in the Madoff scam.

I just saw the movie yesterday and suddenly thought the same.
"Damn, it could have been fun if they had Bacon as the reverend.
