does this mark the end of the superhero movie era?
share
I wish, but probably not.
sharei thought you were a fan?
shareI like some superhero movies, but I have grown tired of them. I think we need a long break from superhero movies for a while and it is time for something different.
shareThe last time I went to a superhero flick was 2019 in which I saw three. I ended it with "Joker," which is really good and not a conventional entry in that genre.
shareEven let's say for a moment that the strike had ended and they were able to promote this movie?? Would it have changed anything?? Moviegoers have instinct and if they don't like something, they won't see it.. Hollywood seriously needs to come up with new ideas other than running to superhero movies for the cheap buck$$$, at least give it a rest for the next 5 Years
shareI suspect the present cycle is coming to an end, yeah. But it's looked like the wheels were starting to come off for a while now.
The trouble Disney and Warner Bros have is that these films have dominated the box office for so long that there's no obvious, ready-made replacement style of blockbuster. If audiences won't pay to see superhero films any more what will they pay to see?
No-one knows. It reintroduces risk. These companies don't like risk when they're spending $250m a pop. So it'll probably be a slow demise.
And the moral of this story is.... something about eggs all in one basket.
Not an end but it's clearly that people need to have a break from superhero genre.
People are more interested in the darker world of these ultraverses. Look at Joker And the new Batman.
I'm sure Joker 2 and The Batman 2 will do very well.
