Not that it was a great entry in the new trilogy. I thought it was the weakest entry of the three. There were some interesting ideas in there and it was kind of a bold movie moving Michael to the background and focusing on how his evil still effected the town even when he was mostly out of the picture.

I thought they missed the mark though, a little bit. I never really got that involved in psycho babysitter's story. So a partial failuture, but not a complete disaster.

I didn't hate it either. I agree it is the weakest of the three and some story elements didn't work for me, but there were some things I liked. The ending was satisfying for me. It's a 7/10 from me.

I thought it was great. Best one since part 4. It had a refreshing and unique plot, with many parallels to the John Carpenter-directed "Christine". The whole plot had me very interested from start to end.

It's a stand alone movie that has the characters from this trilogy inserted into it.

Take out the characters from the previous two entries and replace them with similar new characters, take out Michael, remove the tacked on ending, and you have this emo 'love story' that DGG, and the three other writers, wanted to tell.

And it's very stupid because DGG knows full well why people go to see these franchise movies. Michael fucking Myers! It's like making a Batman movie and reducing him to a background character. Who wants to see that? Or pick any franchise you want. It's a "Saw" movie, but here's the twist: No one gets put into any killing devices. Wow, expectations subverted! It's a "Rocky" movie, but it has no boxing in it. It's a "Jaws" movie, but with no shark! Turns out, it was just a lot of boating accidents.

And if you're an Indie film maker that wants to make horror movies that focus on themes and messages that mirror what is happening in today's world. Stick to Indie films!!! Do not sign up for a franchise trilogy! Intentionally making a film you know is gonna antagonize fans of a franchise is fucked up. You're purposely creating that 'toxic' fandom that always gets condemned by these actors and directors.

If you want Michael Myers killing people you have the two previous films. You wanted the same thing a third time? You know what would you say then? That It was rubbish because It was the same all over again and It lacked imagination ( and that would be true).

Toxic fans are never satisfied...

Exactly. For me, Kills was the worst. I was expecting another Kills with this last part and really wasn't looking forward to it at all. Didn't even see it until a week after release, and am a die-hard Halloween fan for 27 years now. I had no idea of the plot going into it.
So I start watching, and am really tuned in the whole time. After a half hour, I wondered why hardly any Myers, but was still very interested in the story, and ok to having Michael in the position he is. He is what, 70 years old? The story was very gripping the whole movie, and Michael did make his way into it in what I thought a great way. I liked the slow induced psychosis of Corey, much like the main character in "Christine" (directed by Carpenter ironically).
Very happy with Laurie's end, giving her hope for the future.

Yeah, that's not how trilogies work. I swear no one seems to understand that.

I wanted to see more of the story they WERE telling. The story that was setup in 2018 and carried through 'Kills'. They expect us to buy that these characters are completely different people in a four year time jump, but it's unearned, especially after the events of the previous movies. Instead of the story being shaped around them, they are instead shaped around this new character. It's bad story telling.

Have never said that in my life and I've been a fan of this franchise since I was 10. It's like ordering a favorite dish from a restaurant. You don't need to look at a menu, you know why you are there, and what you want.

Toxic fans are the result of writers/directors/studios purposely making movies to antagonize them. They know that what they are making will cause an uproar and do it anyway.

I kind of liked it too. It was a definitive end to both Michael Meyers and Laurie Stroud. If it was just "more of the same" people would complain then as well. I'm sure they'll find a way to reboot the series in 2-3 years.
